Boca River Copa Argentina 2023

Boca Juniors beat River Plate 2-0 in Copa de la Liga final

The victory gives Boca their first major trophy since 2021

The match was a rematch of the 2021 Copa Libertadores final, which River Plate won 1-0

Boca Juniors won the Copa de la Liga Profesional on Sunday, defeating rivals River Plate 2-0 in the final at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Cordoba.

The victory gives Boca their first major trophy since winning the Copa Argentina in 2021. It is also the club’s first Copa de la Liga title.

The match was a rematch of the 2021 Copa Libertadores final, which River Plate won 1-0. Boca were the better team on Sunday and deserved their victory.

The match was played in front of a sell-out crowd of 57,000 fans. Boca started the match brightly and took the lead in the 16th minute when Sebastian Villa scored from close range.

River Plate tried to get back into the match, but they were unable to create many clear-cut chances. Boca doubled their lead in the 65th minute when Dario Benedetto scored from the penalty spot.

River Plate continued to push for a goal, but Boca held on to secure the victory. The win is a major boost for Boca manager Hugo Ibarra, who has been under pressure in recent weeks.

It is also a huge disappointment for River Plate, who were hoping to win their second major trophy of the season. The defeat will also increase the pressure on River Plate manager Martin Demichelis.
