Deadly Tornadoes Cut Path of Destruction in Tennessee
Clarksville's EF-3 Tornado Causes Significant Damage
A series of powerful storms left a trail of devastation across Tennessee on Wednesday, with Clarksville enduring a particularly destructive tornado. The EF-3 tornado, with peak winds reaching 150 mph, tore through an 11-mile path, causing extensive damage. The storm tracked for a total of 1133 miles and had a width of 600 yards.
EF-1 Tornado Also Reported
In addition to the EF-3 tornado, the Clarksville supercell also produced an EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 90 mph. This tornado maintained its lower intensity for most of its track.
Tornado Touched Down Near Kentucky Border
The EF-3 tornado touched down north of Clarksville near Tennessee's border with Kentucky at approximately 1:35 pm. The storm moved rapidly northeast, damaging homes, businesses, and infrastructure along its path.
Significant Damage and Injuries
The tornadoes caused significant damage to Clarksville and surrounding areas. Buildings were destroyed, power lines were downed, and trees were uprooted. Numerous injuries were reported, but no fatalities have been confirmed at this time.
Emergency Response Underway
Emergency crews are currently on the scene, assessing the damage and providing assistance to affected residents. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for continued severe weather in the area.
