Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray drains 15-foot buzzer-beater

Murray sparks Nuggets to 112-98 Game 1 victory over Lakers

Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray was listed as questionable for Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers after playing through each game of Denver's previous series. However, Murray showed no signs of rust on Tuesday night, hitting a stunning 15-foot buzzer-beater over the outstretched arm of the 6'10" Anthony Davis to cap a sensational 20-point performance in the Nuggets' 112-98 victory.

The shot sent the Denver crowd into a frenzy and gave the Nuggets a crucial 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Murray's heroics were especially impressive considering that he had been dealing with a sprained ankle in the weeks leading up to the playoffs. But the All-Star guard showed no ill effects of the injury, as he led the Nuggets in scoring and played a key role in their defensive effort.

The Lakers, meanwhile, were led by LeBron James, who finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. But it was not enough to overcome the Nuggets' balanced attack, which also featured strong performances from Nikola Jokic (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Aaron Gordon (17 points). The Lakers will now need to regroup and find a way to slow down Murray and the Nuggets' offense in Game 2, which is scheduled for Thursday night in Denver.
